If you’re searching for 1 acre lots in Celina TX, Redbud Gardens is a community worth knowing about—especially if your goal is to build a fully custom home rather than choose from a handful of predetermined floor plans.
I recently toured another J. Anthony custom home in Redbud Gardens Celina TX, and this property does a great job showing what becomes possible when you combine a custom builder with a full acre.
We’re talking about a large custom home, swimming pool, basketball court, outdoor entertaining area and still enough backyard left over to actually enjoy the land.
Here’s a closer look at Redbud Gardens and what buyers should know before building here.

Redbud Gardens is an acreage community in Celina, Texas where buyers have the opportunity to build large custom homes on approximately one-acre homesites.
One of the biggest differences between building here and buying in many traditional master-planned communities around North Texas is the level of customization available.
The home I toured was being built by J. Anthony Homes, a fully custom builder. Rather than simply picking a floor plan and changing finishes, the idea is to create a home around what you actually want.
That becomes especially interesting when you have an acre to work with.
This particular property is probably one of the best examples of why buyers start looking for acreage.
Outside, the homeowners were able to incorporate a large covered entertaining area, fireplace, grill area, swimming pool and basketball court.
And there’s still a substantial amount of backyard.
That’s the difference an acre can make.
Instead of having the house, pool and outdoor living area consume nearly the entire backyard, you have room to create multiple outdoor spaces while maintaining usable grass.
For buyers imagining kids playing outside, dogs running around, entertaining friends or simply having more separation between neighboring homes, that additional land can completely change how you use your property.
At the time this home was filmed, I was told lots started around $300,000 in Redbud Gardens.
Keep in mind that the lot is only one part of the total cost.
Lot premiums, the size of your home, architectural design, selections, upgrades, pool, outdoor living features and other customizations can substantially affect the final price.
Because new-construction pricing and lot availability can change, buyers should verify current pricing and availability before making a decision.
During my tour, the starting construction figure discussed for J. Anthony was approximately $235 per square foot, with many buyers ultimately ending up around $320 per square foot after their selections and upgrades.
That’s an important distinction.
The starting price per square foot shouldn’t automatically be multiplied by your desired square footage and treated as your finished-home price.
A fully custom build can include upgraded appliances, cabinetry, flooring, lighting, outdoor living areas, pools and dozens of other choices that affect your final investment.
The home featured in this particular tour was already under contract, and I was not provided its exact square footage or final build price.
Another number buyers should understand is the minimum build size.
For the homes discussed in this section of Redbud Gardens, I was told there was a 4,800-square-foot minimum.
That tells you a lot about the type of neighborhood this is intended to be.
Redbud Gardens isn’t really targeting buyers who simply want a small house with some extra land. It’s geared more toward buyers wanting to combine acreage with a substantial custom home.
The interior demonstrates how different a true custom build can feel.
The kitchen includes a six-burner gas cooktop, substantial cabinetry, thick countertops and large wood ceiling beams. There’s also an enormous pantry with additional storage.
One of the more unusual features is a built-in dog wash station.
The house also includes a large media room, multiple office or flex spaces, sizable secondary bedrooms and a primary suite overlooking the backyard.
The primary bathroom features multiple shower heads, a rain head, bench and hidden drain.
These aren’t necessarily features every buyer will choose. That’s really the point.
A custom build allows you to decide which features matter enough to spend money on.
One advantage discussed during the tour is the ability to incorporate the swimming pool into the overall construction process.
For a buyer who already knows they want a pool, having it completed alongside the home means the backyard can potentially be ready when you move in rather than becoming another major project after closing.
The pool on this particular property works especially well because it doesn’t consume the entire yard.
There’s still room for the basketball court, outdoor living area and a substantial amount of open grass.
Another interesting option mentioned during the tour was the ability to build a shop.
That’s a feature that can matter considerably to buyers looking at acreage homes in Celina TX, particularly if they need additional room for vehicles, hobbies, equipment or storage.
Any buyer considering one should verify the current architectural requirements and community restrictions for the specific property and proposed structure before assuming a particular design will be approved.
This is ultimately less about the number “one acre” and more about what you want your home to do for you.
If you don’t care about having a large backyard, pool, shop or additional outdoor space, paying for more land may not make sense.
But if you’re specifically looking for enough room to create a property with multiple outdoor amenities, the difference becomes much easier to see.
This Redbud Gardens home has a large house, pool, basketball court and covered outdoor entertaining area—and the property still feels like it has a backyard.
That’s what stood out to me.
Celina has a wide variety of new-construction communities, but buyers shouldn’t assume they’re interchangeable.
A traditional master-planned community may give you neighborhood amenities and a smaller homesite. An acreage community like Redbud Gardens can offer an entirely different lifestyle centered around the property itself.
Neither approach is automatically better.
The right decision depends on whether you prioritize community amenities, lot size, customization, maintenance, location, budget or some combination of those factors.
That’s why I recommend comparing the total lifestyle, not simply the price or square footage of the house.
If you’re considering Redbud Gardens Celina TX, looking for 1 acre lots in Celina, or comparing custom-home and acreage communities throughout North Texas, make sure you understand the complete cost before choosing a homesite.
Look at the land, minimum build requirements, estimated construction cost, upgrades, pool and outdoor improvements, HOA requirements and the amount of customization you actually want.
